– Balance of colours
– Variety of textures
– Size of plate
– Quantity of food
– Flavour Profile
-Temperature once served
– Method of cooking (Roasting, Frying, Boiling, Grilling, Steaming, Toasting, Blending, Mashing)
Choosing each dish to make:
– Buying produce that is in season
– Cooking for vegetarian and vegan diets
– Selecting breakfast and lunch-style dishes
– Reviewing the sales and analysing what is popular
– Working with the freedom of each chef’s cooking knowledge and creativity
– Allowing allergens to dictate what is most inclusive for the most amount of people
– Evolving into new concepts & recipes over time to freshen up the menu
– Preparing food based on customer reviews and requests
– Embracing new dishes from other cafes and through research online
How to market the dishes by mastering the menu?
– Smaller menu list= less convoluted = simplified selection for customers
– Adding necessary allergens to provide transparency and inclusivity for all dietary requirements
– Including imagery and illustrations to make the menu’s more engaging and appealing to the eye
– Providing timings of when items are available to avoid confusion and increase clarity for customer dining experience
– Ensure prices are reasonable in relation to the quality/quantity of food and the demographic of customers that frequent the cafe
Why is a food hygiene rating important ?
– Proper hygiene stops the growth and spread of harmful bacteria that cause illness
– A high, public rating shows you prioritize safety, giving customers confidence
– Meets local food safety laws, helping you avoid fines, closure, or prosecution
– A poor rating can severely damage your business’s name and deter customers
– Encourages consistent hygiene habits among staff, leading to better overall operations
What could an app for a collection of varying restaurant/cafes look like?
– Drawing inspiration from what’s already out there, for example Daisy Green Collection in London
– A platform which is easy to navigate and simple to order food from as a takeaway or collection option
– A place to view rewards and loyalty bonuses at the tap of a finger, incentivising customers to purchase their desired items more frequently
– A service that allows you to make a booking online without the hassle of walking into a busy place with no seating available
– An opportunity to emphasise branding colours and style in order to create a strong, intuitive link through every establishment associated in the umbrella company
– A chance to set the mood and tone of voice which can garner greater customer attraction through consistent, coherent messaging & marketing
